The Wandering Mountain

(La Montaña Errante)

Marcial (Raúl Palma) is a hermit who, once a week, welcomes his lifelong friend Julio (Ernesto Benvenutto), who brings books, supplies, and lively conversation to his solitary life in the mountains. One day, Marcial discovers ancient human bones. Terrified, he waits for his friend to return so he can report the discovery. Guilt begins to torment him, preventing him from finding peace, until he decides to re-bury the remains in an eternal cycle of guilt and oblivion.

Written and directed by César González Álvarez (Chile). A fiction short film produced jointly by Malagüero Films and Instituto Profesional Arcos. Premiered at FESANCOR N°24 and subsequently at FICVIÑA 2017. The project was a finalist at the Phoenix Film Festival (Melbourne, Australia). The Wandering Mountain featured the participation of actor Raúl Palma (De repente, El Ascensor Volador, No hay pan) and Ernesto Benvenutto (Desiderio, Sanguinetti). The short film received advisory from Nayra Ilic.
