The Brotherhood

(La Cofradía)

They say that being from Quicaví means being a witch. The gray skies of the village and the silence of its inhabitants seem to hold a collective secret that few want to talk about. Witches and secret caves are part of a memory that could disappear.

Directed by César González Álvarez (Chile) and photographed by Philippe Boisset Dussert (Chile). A documentary short film produced by Malagüero Films & Instituto Profesional Arcos. Premiered at FEDOCHI 2016. The Brotherhood was filmed on the island of Chiloé and was made possible thanks to the testimonies and memories of the island’s inhabitants, particularly from the village of Quicaví. Among them were Armando Bahamondes, Julio Leiva, Carlos Nancuante, Roberto Chahuán, Sergio Colivoro, Olegario Mancilla, Luzmenia Bahamondes, and Mirella Montaña, among others.
