Paolo Casali

Graduated with honors in piano from the Santa Cecilia Music Conservatory with Riccardo Marini, and in musical composition with honors alongside Rosario Mirigliano and Stefano Bracci. From 2017 to 2018, he attended the Hochschule für Künste in Bremen (Germany) in Jorg Birkenkotter’s composition class. In 2019, he graduated with a Master’s in Music for Film with Vincenzo Ramaglia, Stefano Maccagno, and Enrico Cosimi at the Griffith Film and Television Academy (Official Midiware certification). He composes and produces musical works in various formats, including Mosquito Dance, l’isola di Nina e Toti, Gli sceneggiatori, etc. In the summer of 2019, he was selected as a composer for Accordi Maggiori, directed by Marlén Ríos Farjat, in the context of the III edition of Castello Errante, Residenza Internazionale del Cinema. By 2020, he specialized in film music at the CSC Music for Film LAB of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome with Stefano Bassetti, composing for fiction and documentary films, covering a range of formats and styles. These include Ai bambini piace nascondersi by Angela Norelli, Capsula nel tempo by Simone Rosita, Lía by Giulia Regini, CVORE by Federico Russotto. He has also ventured into music for theatrical productions with La citta morta by Leonardo Lidi (Venice Biennale 2020) and commercial music with artists such as Lorenzo Pucci and Lamberto Macchi.

Additionally, he composed the music for the official spot of Castello Errante: Residenza Internazionale del Cinema 2018, directed by César González Álvarez, as well as the musical proposal for the development project Dubois (Best Scripted Series Filmarkethub Sitges 2020, Special Mention Pitch Series Cinemachile 2020, Premio Conecta Fiction in Sanfic Industria 2021, selected in Iberseries Platino Industria 2023, and winner of the Fondo Audiovisual 2022 of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage of the Government of Chile, with the highest score in its Audiovisual Project Support Fund). The piece Biancaneve stands out in this project. In 2023, he composed the original music for the documentary El arte de la ausencia (directed by Mario Felipe de la Maza and César González Álvarez). Since 2019, he has regularly worked as a musical assistant pianist and copyist with composer Lamberto Macchi (Pontevecchio musical edition), recording his original pieces for film at Sudovest Records (Rome), and also participating with the Bulgarian Symphony Orchestra (Sofia). He also serves as an assistant tutor at the National Academy of Santa Cecilia as part of the educational project for the Youth Orchestra and the Children’s Choir. Since 2021, he has worked as a music composer for audiovisual media and a music editor at BNC Music, Lyra, music for history, and sound libraries.
